Artic Training If you want to drive an articulated lorry then make sure you get the best training. This means the training vehicle should be a tractor unit and a proper 40 or 45 foot long trailer. This is what is used in industry and if you want a job this is what you should train in. Some training companies use what is known as a draw bar or 'wag n drag' arrangement. They do this to save themselves money by not having a proper training vehicle. This benefits them but not the trainee as draw bar and artics drive and manouevre very differently. As a newly qualified driver when you go for an interview you will be taken for a test drive. If you have only driven draw bar you will not cope with a proper artic especially when asked to reverse and you will not get the job.
